Day 3
Jan/090
Sliding, slashing, spinning, and crashing…lots of it. It was a seriously fun day. I got to finally ride with someone I hadn’t seen since 2001. And it was a total coincidence that we all met up at his home before rolling up.
Day 1
Dec/080
When I was unemployed and still in school, I could cheat my winter schedule to favor trips to the mountain as opposed to the campus. The caveat was that I was as broke as an Obama voter, making it hard on the wallet to drive up and down as often as I’d have liked.
Now that I have a job and a little bit of spare change to spend on trips to the mountain, my weekdays are a wash because they are consumed entirely with work. And work is one hour away in the exact opposite direction as the local resorts, making night-riding tough to pull off when everyone on the freeway is conspiring to make sure my commute home takes twice as long.
Imagine my relief when I finally had my first day on the mountain yesterday. New season, new board, and a new crew all combined for the best first day I’ve ever had. Despite the long lines and crowded runs, we managed to have fun going through the trees trying to find remnants of the 4+ feet that had fallen a couple of days before. We found some, but also found tree stumps and rocks beneath the untracked snow. Nevertheless, I found my way down without poking my eye out from the sharp branches that hung from the trees and I just need a few feet of new snow to fall so I can do it again with less reservation!
