The End

The End, originally uploaded by MGINEERING.

In a nutshell, this is the aftermath of months of wedding planning, days of practicing, hours upon hours in the hot Southern California Summer sun, and nearly as many hours consuming alcoholic beverages. The groom laid across the bench on his back drunk and exhausted, while one of the groomsmen sits nearby ready to hold his hair back just in case he needs to throw up some more.

This is where I do work
, originally uploaded by MGINEERING.

This is a first person view of my current workstation. I’ll be honest, it was a lot dirtier and messier just a few seconds before this photograph was taken. I cleaned up a little so I don’t look like a complete dirtbag.

I’m working on Lightroom 2.0, which has dual monitor support. I can do my editing on the main screen (Dell 2408wfp) while the secondary screen display my photo grid. I like it.

What I don’t like is that Dell 2408wfp monitor itself. I had very high hopes and expectations for it, given that it’s their “Ultrasharp” version with 110% color gamut. It’s definitely marketed well, with all the right features and technical promises on paper to get someone like me excited.

Despite all of the value-adds such as the 9 in 2 media card reader, HDMI input, PIP, etc. Its shortcomings were still too much to ignore and to outweigh the benefits. After going through the hassle of calling technical support countless times, and three separate monitors, I am finally going to return this monitor for a complete refund.

I sent the first monitor back as well as the third one. The one you see here is the second monitor, which is better than the other two, but still not good enough. There is too much backlight bleeding in the corners, an issue with the sharpness setting, and the biggest complaint for me is the uneven LCD backlighting! Images on the left edge of the screen is at least 15% brighter than the center. This is annoying, and unacceptable.

I’m considering replacing this monitor with either the NEC 2490WUXi or the 23″ Apple HD Cinema Display.

I only have until tomorrow morning before UPS comes knocking on my door for the pick-up, so I better finish all of my photo editing before then!

Cocktail hour, originally uploaded by MGINEERING.

Not really.

But this was part of the poison that compromised my photography for the rest of the evening and well into the night. It’s cold, sweet, goes down smooth, and to a thirsty person who was just out running around in the sun underneath a black long sleeved shirt, it was like finding an oasis in the middle of the desert. (FYI: I’m listening to Wonderwall by Oasis as I write this, what a coincidence huh?)

Is it weird that most of my photographs from this point forward seems “more fun”? LOL

I have this friend, he’s the Art Director for a big snowboarding company. Being the shot-caller-big-baller that he is, he makes sure that nothing leaves that department until there is a bolt of lighting integrated into the design somehow, somewhere.

Brussels

This is the latest commercial from ATTs Best Coverage campaign. It reminded me of my brief visit of Brussels. But instead of meeting a pair of techno freaks, it was two drunk gays passed out in the shower room of the Hostel.

Brussels wasn’t done with me yet though…

Whenever I see this picture, I am reminded at how I was charged $17 for a half liter of bottled water by that Italian in the background. Oh, and those girls he’s looking at in the corner? They’re prostitutes. Also known as call girls to some, whores to others, Brussels beeyotches to me.

I should be able to recoup some of my losses with the ballpoint pen I liberated from his pocket. Thanks for the souvenir guy!
