Pedal Power
Jul/090
I’ve been patiently waiting for the Trek District since its initial November release date. Here we are 7 months later, one delay after another, rumors upon rumors as to what’s holding up production, and I am no closer in getting that bike now than I was in November. Apparently other people around the world have been getting their bikes which makes me even more frustrated as to why my size (54cm) seems to be the most difficult to find. Most people have been getting 56’s.
I stopped by my local bike shop after work just last week. I was convinced that this shop would be the last place I’d ever see the bike. my friend had to be the one who pointed it out to me. “Oh that’s a sick looking bike!” He yelled. I turned around and saw its orange rims staring at me right in the face, it was like a dream. But this was a dream with a sad ending, as it was another 56 District. I’ve never wanted to be 6 feet tall more so than at that very moment so I can ride it home with me. Ugh.
Meanwhile at another bike I shop I saw this matte/flat black road bike and found a deal I couldn’t pass up. Murdered out, drop bars, gears, a sick minimalist color scheme, found a killer deal, available and in stock…SOLD!
The bike should deliver sometime after the 4th of July weekend. I’ve already checked the weather forecast for next week, low 90’s. I’m starting a bike club, who wants to join?
V-Neck tee? Maybe.
Sep/080
I admit to having a predisposition of favoring v-neck tees over regular ones. Come on, why be “regular” when you can be “different?” And of course by “different” I actually mean “the same”, because v-necks has become something of a trendy/common item these days. Nevertheless, I like it for a variety of reasons unrelated to its popularity in the fashion mainstream. It’s because underneath the hot sun here in So. Cal I can use all the ventilation I can get, that small extra cut can mean the difference between hot and hot-as-hell. I personally like Active’s blank v-necks, it’s soft, simple, and that small logo hit on the sleeve is oh so subtle. What I don’t like is illustrated succinctly below. Keep it simple and don’t be a douchebag. Click the image to jump to the article.
Iron Man > Batman
Aug/080
Iron Man is greater than Batman. According to, well, Tony Starks himself (Robert Downey Jr.) Read about it HERE
Thanks for the tip Mike!
Logically if we were to compare both superheroes, it’s clear which one is superior and it’s not Batman. Tony Starks is a genius: Bruce Wayne is not. He’s just a billionaire who has someone else build all of his fancy black on black on black crime fighting gadgets. Sure, Tony Starks has a heart problem, whereas Bruce Wayne apparently is fully skilled in ninja ass kicking, but there is no question that as superheroes, Iron Man > Batman
Wedding Weekend
Aug/080
I just got back a few hours ago from three days of shooting Wedding related photos for my friend. Three separate lenses, over a thousand pictures were shot, and over 15 Gigabyte of memory spent on many timeless and priceless images of friends and family, in beautiful as well as compromising situations. It looks like I have a few days worth of post processing and editing to follow.
I learned a lot from trial and error this weekend. One of my biggest error was the one and only Sandisk Extreme IV 4GB card I was using. Its capacity was not large enough to keep shooting more than ~250 RAW images. When priceless moments could be happening at any given moment, a minute of downtime (or 20 minutes as the case happened to be for me, on multiple occasions nonetheless!) is one minute too many!
No thanks to my slow card reader either, which prolonged the transfer process to my Macbook longer than necessary. Sure the card has extremely fast read/write speed, but its pointless if the card reader is going to bottleneck the transfer process.
This WEBSITE is a useful guide for finding out which card and card reader is the fastest on the market, just in case you want to avoid the same problems I encountered.
